Must have gadget--S-Biner

I admit, I love gadgets and all things gadget-y, espically when it has to do with fly fishing.  I ran across these neat little things a few weeks ago and bought a few.  My recommendation?  Go and grab a few. Even if you use them for something else, they are a great idea and I bet you will just have to run out and grab some more.  S-Biners are the name and you can get them in steel and in plastic.  The prices are good and you can buy a few of them for less than $10.00.  They come in various sizes, so you can find one for the really small things and one for holding your extension cords up in the garage.
I placed these on my lanyard and vest.  They have so many uses and I find myself thinking of more ways and places I can use these things.  They certainly make things easy to add and remove as needed. I like the #1 size as that seems to be big enough to hold most gadgets and small enough to stay out of th away.  Take a look for yourself and see what you might be able to use them for.  I found mine in Colorado Springs at Mountain Chalet and have seen them at REI also.

    1. It's a piece of foam to hold flies on after or before you use them. A foam fly patch!

  3. Used them a ton last year backpacking. Used them in our float tubes and use them everytime to attach the magnet on our nets to our packs while fishing.

    1. There are so many things you can use these for. I might have to get a few bigger ones for my float tube. Thanks for the tip!

    1. I like "stuff" also! There comes a point when you can have too much "stuff". I have been close a couple of times, but have yet to get there in my own mind.

    1. Anglo, I think you can find a ton of uses for these other than fishing. Get a few and let us know what you use them for.

  6. I hate to rain on everyone's parade but I'm not a fan of them. I had a small flashlight (an aaa light) attached to my keys with one and nearly lost it several times. Because of the way the gate is made if the attached thing twists any, it can pop right off. Give it a try...

Anyway, I wanted to like them but losing stuff isnt fun.

    1. Matthew, thanks for the info you provided. I can see what you mean by possibly having things pop off from them. I hope the way I have them set up, on a lanyard or vest, that all the weight will keep them away from twisting and coming off. I can see where the flashlight can come off a set of keys. They also offer a key ring set up for you r keys and other stuff. Thanks for sharing your experience with these.

    2. yeah for things hanging free you shouldnt have a problem. one possible solution might be to cut a bit of coffee stirrer or drinking straw, thread it onto the hook part, then put on your stuff and slide it over the opening. That might prevent losing stuff.

    3. Great idea! I can see how losing a pair of nippers in the middle of nowhere could spell trouble for the rest of your trip. That would basically add an extra measure of security against losing it. Thanks again!

  7. I agree have a few of those already. The key binder they make even opens your beer.

  8. Nothin like losin a pair of forcepts way out there and suddenly limiting your self to only the flies in your box that have already been pinched or tied on barbless hooks! (A good reason to tie everything with barbless)
