So where did I put those reels? It's been so long since I used them, I can't remember! As many of you can tell, I haven't been able to get out much this year. Life seems to be getting in the way of my fishing. I just finished my last tying demo today and looking back, if I counted those as fishing days, (and my wife does count them as "fishing days") I'd probably be doing just fine. I've been messing around with some fly patterns and trying to come up with the next "hot thing" as well as supplying Colorado Springs fly fishers with great patterns to buy and fish with. The crazy thing about tying tons of flies, is that you get in a rut and it becomes a job! Oh well, I am the one driven so hard to improve, it's my own fault. Other than tying flies, I have been working a lot on our garden. We started a square foot garden this year and it's our first attempt at doing this, but something tells me it's going to produce like crazy! Mixing all the composts and soils, I just keep think in terms of rivers. A regular garden is like a freestone river and the square foot garden is like a tailwater. Just looking at it, you know it is pretty damn fertile. I can't wait! I have plans to fish more as June gets here. I can't miss out on some of the best fishing of the year. I have already missed out on the first half of the best fishing. I have to test some more fly designs and just enjoy life now that I made it through the Rapture.
Today was about Soft Hackles and enjoying natural materials.
Ah, a nice piece of deer hair.
Playing at the park today. Fishing can wait, but they won't.
Jackson prepares to launch off the swing.
I am going to shave her head as she gets older and maybe buy a "street sweeper" and play that
song by Rodney Atkins:
Come on in boy sit on down
And tell me about yourself
So you like my daughter do you now?
Yeah we think she's something else
She's her daddy's girl
Her momma's world
She deserves respect
That’s what she'll get
Ain’t it son?
Hey y'all run along and have some fun
I'll see you when you get back
Bet I’ll be up all night
Still cleanin' this gun
i am not sure that 'making it through the rapture' is a good thing...unless you're counting on some empty streams and lots of fly-shop looting in the aftermath.
ReplyDeleteI hope we get some sun. Plants need water, but this is getting crazy. My seeds might be rotting in the ground from too much of a good thing. A friend of mine uses the square foot garden. They can be very productive. Good luck and tight lines, Jerry
ReplyDeleteShaving her head! Great idea. I've always told my wife when my last 2 sons where born....the 2 born AFTER my daughter...."we're going to need another shot gun." She knows when boys come for my daughter, I'll be cleaning my guns, and my 4 boys will be cleaning theirs. Might even sharpen some knives!
ReplyDeleteGFP,
ReplyDeleteHa, yea, those brothers better keep an out for her in school!
