A new hopper pattern for you for you to start tying to be ready in August. This pattern is a lower riding, more realistic pattern than the Hopper Juan. While it may look complicated, after trying it a few times, it all comes together. The hardest part is getting all the materials together. A recent change has me using a Chernobyl taper cutter to get a more precise body cut, otherwise everything else is the same.
Pull out the foam and Super 77, order some eyes and legs and get started.
Juan- great looking tie and pattern. Keep them coming. This will be a great summer hopper pattern on the Ark. , can't wait to try. Hope winter is going well. Merry Christmas.

Thanks Floatfisher. Yes, this is a good one. You can change the color as needed. It's been fun to throw this summer. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
DeleteHey Juan-I was wondering what would happen to all of that foam. It sure makes a realistic body-round and segmented. It might have a nick -name, the extended body hopper. I can see the Hollywood though-those eyes look like a pair of sun glasses. Thanks for the video. I am tying right now, but just simple things to get my chops back. Have a Merry Christmas. See you at the FFS? (I will organizing another breakfast before the show) Jerry
ReplyDeleteThe Hollywood Hopper was named because it has nice thick thighs, a robust thoracic region and big sunglasses as if it came from Hollywood! I am not sure I will do the breakfast this year. I have to leave super early, that's the only reason.
DeleteI didn't think of body types, just the "sunglasses".
ReplyDeleteWe might start later. Getting up early on Saturdays is a problem. If not I will stop by at the show.
Jerry
Very nice.
ReplyDeleteso you're saying you like thick thighs and robust mid-sections?
ReplyDeleteYes....and don't forget the big sunglasses!
DeleteNice, but I prefer a more impressionistic pattern as your original pattern.
ReplyDeleteJay, I do love fishing the Hopper Juan too. It will always hold a special place in my heart and in my box. It has proven itself time and time again. The Hollywood Hopper has a way to go and will be used in a different way that the impressionistic Hopper Juan. Thanks for fishing the Hopper Juan and enjoying it. It's good to hear!
DeleteJuan,
DeleteActually I have my own hopper pattern.
It's also an impressionistic hopper pattern, quite similar to yours.
