The Sparkle Braid Prince

The Prince Nymph is one of my all time favorites.  I love the traditional bead head pattern, but over the years, there have been may variations of the standard Prince.  It's not that the fish have seen it too many times, it's just as fly tiers, we can't leave shit alone!  Today's post is going to be one that I tie.  I call it the Sparkle Braid Prince.  I use the UTC Sparkle Braid to create the body and I can change it to different colors as needed.  Some of the fun with these patterns are that we can tie different colors to see if they work and usually they work just great.  Don't be afraid to tie some different colors for those fish who have seen it al.

  3. I agree with the others! Thanks for the video. Do you always use both the weighted hook and the Tungsten Bead in combination?

  4. Mel-I do always weight the hook. It depends on where I think I will fish these. Smaller streams is brass bead, bigger water/faster water, I use tungsten beads. If possible, I will always use tungsten.

  5. Great video and tie Juan. very neat and clean. I tie something similar but in a larger stonefly pattern. I find the sparkle of the braid and ice dub works well during spring runoff or after a rain fished close to banks or along bottom. Big fan of your blog and tying vids. Cheers!

    1. Rich,
Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate any and all feedback. I like to use these in faster water as well as off color water. In the spring on the Arkansas, the right colors works really, really well!
