Nice!

Fishpond and Hardy.  Not a bad combo.  I will have to report back to you on the Hardy.  I have had it out once and it seems like a fine stick.  All I did with it was nymph and it really did cast a nymph rig smoothly.  I really need to put this rod through a good workout.  I just need the time!

  1. Curious to hear what you think of the Hardy after a few solid workouts. I've heard very positive things, but haven't yet thrown with one.

    1. So far so good. When you have other high end rods, there really isn't a lot of difference. When you move from a $150.00 rod to this one, there may be a big difference. I was able to cast the new 1 piece rods Hardy is coming out with and those rods really have a nice feel to them. I would trade this one for one of those. They are 8'10" and 1 piece. Kinda hard to transport, but from how it felt, it would be worth it. It was a 4wt.

  2. I'm sure you'll love the Hardy, but the vest looks like it would sink a battleship. Not that it's not nice, but it looks pretty loaded down.

    1. I carry way too much stuff with me, but I don' t know any different. That vest isn't too bad. I am used to it and feel weird without it. This one actually fits really good on my body.

    2. Juan,

I felt a kinship seeing your loaded vest. I'm a fellow packrat too, but fish too many different waters to go without. Like you say once it's on I don't think about it. Vested Fishermen Unite!!

  5. I have cast a Hardy rod at the FFS and was impressed. Do the one piece rods flex more evenly? When the 4 piece rods hit the market, most of the manufacturers said that their designs eliminated the dead spots. Is this a trend to couter the 4 piece market? How do you transport a one piece anyway? I will need a new longer car. Don't tell my wife!! Jerry
