Royal Gorgeous Caddis

Here is a video on how to tie the Royal Gorgeous Caddis.  It's a simple fly to tie, the hardest part is making the dubbing.  I use a mixture of 3 dubbings, but you can mix what you like and probably do just fine.  Take a look.

This little caddis pattern works great anywhere there are caddis larva and pupa drifting around.  It is based off of the Cimarron Special, a pattern from Greg Faught, one of my favorite patterns of all time.  This is a very simple pattern to tie and the key is the buggy rubber leg dubbing.

  2. Juan,

Oh, how I have been waiting for this! Thank you very much. I am a bachelor most of this week so you can be sure I will be in the Man Cave tying these.

  6. Very nice. I have had some of that Hareline Hare'e Wiggle dub for a while. Now I can put it to some good use.

  8. I like my flies (mostly nymphs) simple. This fly looks simple and very buggy. I like it!

Do you just leave the wire at the hook bend as it is or do you put a drop of super flue to prevent from unwrapping?

  9. Hi Jay.
I do just leave the wire at the hook bend. I don't put anything on the last wrap. There is no need to do anything with it. How easy is that?!
