Some Small Thread

I was given this new thread by the owner of one of my local shops last week and I was surprised that I had never heard of it. I have all of the manufactures catalogs and scour the Internet for all items related to fly fishing and tying and have never seen this. All I can say is that this is pretty thin thread. Actually, it is not thread at all. It is very thin mono, as far as I can tell. I have played around with it a bit, but I have yet to finish tying a fly with it. It takes a very light touch with this. My main problem was I kept nicking it on the hook point and breaking it. I will continue to play with this "new" thread and report back.

  1. Hi Juan,
You're right... it's a tricky thread to work with. Have tied with the UNI-Trico (about 40 denier) and that took alot of concentration.
That said, it behaves more like a conventional thread without the slippery characteristic of Spiderweb.

Hang in there - by a thread!

    Best,
    Andy

  2. Andy,

Thanks for the encouragement! I still haven't finished a fly with this stuff. I did use it for ribbing some Elk Hair Caddis and it seemed to do that perfectly.
I have used the UNI-Trico and it works ok as well. It is tricky to use and I don't use it anymore. I can use a 70 Deiner for almost everything.

    Take care,

    Juan
